Scam Alerts

New scams target Filipino job seekers every week. Know the red flags before you apply.

Golden rule: Legitimate employers never ask you to pay to apply, pay for training, or pay to “unlock” your account. If money flows from you to them — it’s always a scam.

Top 8 Scams Targeting Filipinos

Most Common

1. "Training Fee" / "Registration Fee" Scam

You apply, get “accepted,” then they ask for ₱500–₱5,000 for training materials or registration. Legitimate employers never charge workers. Ever.

2. Fake Check / Overpayment Scam

They “accidentally” send too much money and ask you to send back the extra. The original payment reverses — and you’re out the money you returned.

3. "Easy ₱5,000/Day" Jobs

Posts promising absurd pay for minimal work. No legitimate online job pays this. If it sounds too good, it is. Always.

4. Fake Interviews on Telegram

They move you to Telegram, conduct a “professional interview,” offer you the job instantly, then ask for bank details or a processing fee. This isn’t how real hiring works.

5. Task-Based "Investment" Scams

You complete tasks (rating products, liking posts), earn small amounts, then they tell you to “invest” to unlock bigger earnings. You deposit money and never get it back.

6. Profile "Boost" Services

Someone offers to boost your Upwork or Fiverr profile for a fee. These violate platform terms, don’t work, and take your money.

7. Social Media Comment Farms

Some ask you to do illegal activities (fake reviews, bot activity) that can get your accounts banned or create legal exposure. Not worth the ₱500.

8. Romance Scam Crossovers

Someone befriends you, builds trust over weeks, then offers a “job” involving receiving packages or sending money. This is money laundering.
