General Disclaimer

Everything on this site is for informational purposes only.

Start Online PH (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates the website startonlineph.com as a free educational resource for Filipinos who want to start online work.
The information, guides, articles, templates, comparisons, and resources published on this site are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute — and should not be treated as — professional, legal, financial, tax, career, or employment advice of any kind.
While we strive for accuracy and update our content regularly, we make no warranties or representations about the completeness, reliability, suitability, or availability of any information on this site. Your use of this information is entirely at your own risk.

Not Professional Advice

Nothing on Start Online PH constitutes professional advice of any kind. Specifically:

Not Legal Advice

Our guides about freelance contracts, BIR registration, online work regulations, and platform terms are general information only. We are not lawyers. Consult a licensed Philippine attorney for legal questions.

Not Financial Advice

Pay ranges, income estimates, and earning projections on this site are general estimates based on community research. They are not guaranteed income figures. Consult a financial advisor for personal financial decisions.

Not Tax Advice

Any discussion of BIR registration, tax obligations for online workers, or income reporting is for general awareness only. Tax law is complex and personal. Consult a licensed CPA or tax professional in the Philippines.

Not Career Counselling

Our job path guides and "which job is right for you" content are general frameworks to help you explore options — not personalised career assessments. Your specific situation may differ significantly.

Not Medical or Psychological Advice

Any discussion of work-life balance, mental health, or stress related to online work is general wellness information only — not medical guidance.

Not Security Advice

Our scam alerts and fraud prevention tips are general awareness guides, not a substitute for professional cybersecurity or legal counsel if you have been the victim of fraud.

Always verify independently

Before making any significant decision — accepting a job offer, registering a business, signing a contract, or making a financial commitment — consult a qualified professional and conduct your own research. Do not rely solely on anything you read here.

03

Earnings Disclaimer

Start Online PH publishes pay range estimates throughout the site — for example, “Virtual Assistants in the Philippines earn ₱20,000–₱60,000 per month.” These figures are estimates based on publicly available community data, job board listings, and freelancer community reports at the time of writing. They are not guarantees.

Actual earnings from online work depend on many factors entirely outside our control, including but not limited to:

  • Your specific skills, experience level, and specialisation
  • The quality of your profile, portfolio, and application messages
  • The platform you use and the clients you attract
  • Market conditions, demand, and competition at any given time
  • Your availability, reliability, and rate of improvement
  • Exchange rate fluctuations between USD and PHP
  • Whether you work part-time or full-time
Figure Type What It Represents Status
Pay range (e.g. ₱20K–₱60K/mo) General market range observed across job boards and community data at time of writing Estimate
Beginner pay (e.g. "from ₱10K") Approximate floor for entry-level roles — many beginners start lower, some start higher Estimate
Platform-specific rates Rates reported by Filipino freelancers on those platforms — not verified by the platforms themselves Community Data
Your personal earnings Entirely dependent on your own situation, effort, and circumstances Not Represented Here
Income guarantee We make no income guarantees of any kind Not Offered
Our honest position

Some people who follow our guides will earn more than our published ranges. Others will earn less. The figures we publish are starting points for research — not promises. We update them when we become aware of significant market shifts.

04

Affiliate Disclosure

We earn from some links — and we tell you when we do.

Some links on Start Online PH are affiliate links. This means that if you click a link and complete a qualifying action — such as signing up for a service, purchasing a product, or completing a registration — we may receive a small commission or referral fee from the third party.

This comes at absolutely no additional cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our affiliate link or navigate to the service directly.

Affiliate commissions help us keep this website free, cover hosting costs, and continue producing guides at no charge to our readers.

Our affiliate principles

We only link to tools and platforms we have genuinely evaluated.

We do not include affiliate links to services we would not personally recommend to a Filipino beginner.

Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial ratings or assessments.

If we think a platform is a poor choice for beginners, we say so in the same guide — even if we have an affiliate link for that platform. See our Upwork review as an example.

We disclose affiliate relationships at the page or article level

wherever they exist. You will not encounter hidden or unmarked affiliate links on this site.

We are not paid to create positive reviews.

No company has paid us to write favourably about their product. Our assessments are based on independent research and community feedback.

We cannot control third-party pricing, availability, or quality.

If a service we link to changes its pricing, terms, or quality after we publish a guide, we are not responsible for those changes.

Our commitment to you

We will always recommend what we genuinely believe is best for a Filipino beginner — not what pays us the highest commission. If those two things ever conflict, the beginner's interest wins.

06

Scam Alert Content

Our Scam Alerts section documents known scam patterns that target Filipino online job seekers. This content is published as a public awareness resource — not as a legal filing, official report, or accusation against any specific individual or company.

How we handle scam content

  • Scam alerts describe patterns, tactics, and types of fraud — not named individuals or companies, unless those are already a matter of public record.
  • Reader-submitted scam reports are reviewed before publication. We may publish details of a reported scam (without identifying the reporter) to help protect our community.
  • We do not accept payment to remove or alter scam alerts once published.
  • If you believe a scam alert contains an error or misidentifies a legitimate service, contact us at scottwebdevph@gmail.com. We will review and respond within 5 business days.
If you've been scammed

Our scam alerts are an awareness resource, not a legal remedy. If you have been the victim of online fraud, please report it to the NBI Cybercrime Division (cybercrime.nbi.gov.ph) or the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (acg.pnp.gov.ph). These are the proper authorities with the power to investigate and act.

07

External Sites & Third-Party Content

This website contains links to external websites and references third-party content (platforms, tools, agencies, government sites, and community resources). We provide these links as a convenience to our readers.

Start Online PH has no control over the content, terms, privacy practices, availability, or accuracy of any external website. The presence of a link on this site does not constitute an endorsement of that website or any product or service it offers.

We are not responsible for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of an external website — including but not limited to: loss of income, fraud, data breaches, misleading information, or platform policy changes that affect your freelance work.

A note on platform policy changes

Freelance platforms (Upwork, Fiverr, OnlineJobs.ph, etc.) update their terms, fees, and policies regularly. We update our guides when we become aware of significant changes, but there may be a gap between a platform's update and our guide update. Always check the platform's current terms directly before making decisions based on our published comparisons.

08

Content Accuracy & Updates

We make every reasonable effort to ensure that the information published on Start Online PH is accurate and current at the time of publication. However, the online work market in the Philippines — including platform policies, pay rates, job availability, and scam tactics — changes frequently.

What we do to stay accurate

  • We review and update high-traffic guides at least annually or when significant changes occur.
  • We display “Last Updated” dates on major guides so you can assess how current the information is.
  • We rely on community feedback, job board research, and direct platform review to maintain accuracy.
  • We welcome corrections from readers — email us at scottwebdevph@gmail.com if you spot an error.

What we cannot guarantee

  • That any specific job listing, platform, or employer mentioned on this site remains available or legitimate after the date of publication.
  • That pay ranges remain accurate as market conditions shift.
  • That free tools or courses we recommend remain free or of the same quality.
  • That any specific strategy or template we suggest will produce results for your specific situation.
Information can age quickly

An article published in early 2025 about Upwork's fee structure, Fiverr's ranking algorithm, or OnlineJobs.ph's pricing may be out of date by the time you read it. Always verify time-sensitive details directly with the relevant platform or source.

09

Testimonials & Community Stories

From time to time, Start Online PH may publish stories, quotes, or experiences from Filipino online workers — either submitted by readers or drawn from public community sources (Facebook Groups, forums, etc.).

These are shared for illustrative purposes and to reflect what is possible when beginners take focused action. They are not typical results. Individual outcomes vary widely based on skills, effort, market conditions, and timing.

  • Testimonials are not verified income claims — we do not audit readers’ actual earnings.
  • Some names or identifying details may be changed to protect privacy, with the subject’s permission.
  • Success stories should inspire, not create false expectations — most beginners take weeks to months to land their first client.
  • We do not accept paid testimonials or sponsored success stories.
Real stories, realistic expectations

When we share a story of someone landing their first online job in two weeks, that is their experience — not an average or a guarantee. Others in the same situation may take two months. The goal is to show what is possible, not to promise it.
